A chic and idyllic Cotswold hideaway
Tarlton is a pretty and sleepy hamlet, off the beaten track but within ten minutes of the historic market towns of Cirencester and Tetbury. A mile away via country path or dirt road is the local pub, the Tunnel House, originally built to house workers on the canal tunnel, whose 19th century classical entrance is adjacent. For excellent gastro-pubs The Bell at Sapperton, Trouble House Inn, Potting Shed and Village Pub Barnsley are within 10 mins drive. For fine dining try Barnsley House, Calcot Manor or The Rectory.
From the doorstep there is excellent walking through the Bathurst Estate with the source of the Thames about a mile away. The fine house and garden at Rodmarton is just down the road with Prince Charles’ Highgrove, Westonbirt (Arboretum and Beaufort Polo Club) and Bibury (photo above) not much further. There is of course much more and with Cotswolds towns like Stow, Chipping Camden and Burford and destinations like Bath and Cheltenham all within about 30 minutes drive Asphodel is your perfect base.
